Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips has revealed that he wants to pen a new deal at Elland Road and has told Andrea Radrizzani about it.

The England international midfielder has been linked with almost all the bigwigs in the Premier League, and while he is being tipped to leave west Yorkshire at the end of 2021-22, the Whites academy graduate told Daily Mail he wants to extend his contract instead.

Phillips is arguably Leeds most influential player, and losing him is the last thing they want right now, so hearing that he is very much open to continuing with the club is huge news.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans what they think of the news, and here is how they reacted.

Leeds have struggled a lot so far in 2021-22, winning just three of the 18 Premier League games they have played, and that is simply not good enough.

They could find themselves in a full-blown relegation battle during the second half of the campaign, and injuries to Phillips and some of the other key players have not helped.

The midfielder could be out of action until February, and Marcelo Bielsa could be forced to bring in quality reinforcements in January.

Tying their academy graduate to a new deal should not be an issue, but relegating will all but end their association.

Leeds would be forced to cash in on him and some of their best players if they go down, and it is why they cannot afford to.

There are 20 games left this season, and with action not likely to resume until 2022 due to covid-19 enforced postponements, they have to hit the ground running in the New Year and do all they can to ensure they hold on to their top-flight status come end of the season.

In other Leeds United news, Whites chiefs recently jetted out of the UK for talks.
