Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson set to join Fleetwood Town on loan
Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson is set to join Fleetwood Town on loan for 2021-22, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.
The 20-year-old is not in head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team plans yet and will spend another season on loan away from Elland Road.
Edmondson will be linking up with former Leeds boss Simon Grayson at the League One club, and he is expected to have his medical today (Friday).
The young striker was with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen during the first half of last term and Northampton Town for the second half of the campaign, and he will now look to make his mark at Fleetwood.
Good move for his development
Edmondson was on fire for Leeds under-23s during 2018-19, bagging 20 goals to help them land the Professional Development League title.
The former England under-19 striker was rewarded with a new three-year deal at Elland Road early last season, and we are looking forward to seeing him in action for the first team again.
The York City academy graduate made his league debut for us at 16 in May 2018 and has featured just once more for the first team since.
While there is no place for him on the senior team bench right now, Edmondson has a huge future ahead of him, and Grayson could play a huge role in helping to develop him.
He featured in 36 games last term, scoring four times, and will be looking to do better at Fleetwood.
The Cod Army are aiming for Championship promotion next season, and the Leeds men could help make their dreams come true.
