Mateusz Bogusz eyeing temporarily Leeds United exit again this summer

Leeds United attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz is looking to spend another season away from Elland Road on loan.

The Poland youth international spent last term on loan with Spanish second-division side Logrones, featuring in 23 league games and scoring once.

Bogusz is now looking towards the future after the end of his temporary deal, but a return to Leeds is off the cards at the moment.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa has a lot of attacking options at his disposal at the moment, and the 19-year-old is not part of his plans.

“Yes, I have two years left on my contract, with an option to extend it for another year,” the teenager told Laczy Nas Pilka.

“My return to England at this point is probably not a priority, because at Leeds, my chances of playing are low, so I still want to go on loan.

“I want to develop and keep playing, that’s what I’ve missed recently and that’s what I care about. [My future] will be decided in the second half of June, we will talk about it with the Leeds authorities, and at the moment I do not know too much about it.

“I am not cancelling any proposal at the moment, I am open to offers, but I also know one thing that now I have to go to a club that will suit me with the style of the game, and I must fit into the coach’s concept.”

One for the future

Bogusz joined Leeds from Ruch Chorzow in January 2019, linking up with the under-23s after scoring six times in 34 games for his hometown club.

He featured in 20 games for the youth side and made his league debut for us in the final game of last season.

At 19, the Pole has a lot of years ahead of him, and Leeds are aware of his potential, deciding to hand him a three-year deal last August [LUFC].

Bogusz did not particularly impress in Spain last term, but still has it in him and we are keen to see how he does at his next loan club.

With Jack Harrison, Raphinha, Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Helder Costa, Tyler Roberts and Ian Carlo-Poveda all fighting for places in Bielsa’s attack, the teenager knows he is clearly not ready to challenge any of them for playing opportunities.

Hopefully, he will be ready to next summer, and playing in the English Championship next season could help him adapt to the style of football Leeds desire from their players.
