Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford will fancy chances v Chelsea after Thiago Silva injury blow

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford will be relishing the prospect of going up against Chelsea with them set to miss Thiago Silva.

The Blues confirmed that he suffered knee ligament damage against Spurs but did not reveal the timeline for his absence.

Now, it’s reported by the Daily Mail [28 February], that he will be out for six weeks and certainly going to miss the weekend clash against the Whites.

Bamford, who hasn’t been at his best this season, is likely to be the one leading the line for Leeds at Stamford Bridge.

Silva is undoubtedly their best defender and the Englishman would’ve found it harder to have freedom inside the penalty area had he been there.

The Brazilian, despite being one of the oldest players in the league continues to roll back the years for the Blues who would’ve been worse off without him.

All their other central defenders have been inconsistent and without Silva to marshal this team, they could be all over the place against Leeds.

The crowd will get behind the team but an early goal for the away side could suddenly turn the cheers into boos and they’re likely to be directed towards Potter.

Bamford will thrive in such situations and his relentless work off the ball will surely come in handy against a suspect Chelsea backline.

It remains to be seen if Javi Gracia can mastermind this Leeds side to another Premier League win.
