Leeds United star Willy Gnonto has sent Georginio Rutter a new message after Brighton's impressive comeback win over Tottenham.

The Seagulls came from 2-0 down to beat Ange Postecoglou's side 3-2 on Sunday (6 October) with the former Leeds man picking up a goal and an assist in the second half on the south coast.

Rutter's second-half strike against Spurs was his second in the Premier League this term having made the move from Elland Road at the end of the transfer window and former teammate Gnonto was quick to react.

Commenting on the Frenchman's Instagram post on Monday (7 October) he wrote: "Facile" followed by a red heart emoji.

How much did Leeds United get for Georginio Rutter transfer?

While Rutter may have ruffled some Leeds United supporters' feathers when he appeared to poke fun at the club following his move to Brighton, it is clear that the Frenchman remains a popular figure among his former teammates.

Gnonto was often spotted alongside the forward and Crysencio Summerville on matchdays at Elland Road last term, so it is only natural that he would have been quick to congratulate his former teammate for getting on the scoresheet in the Premier League.

The former Leeds man's display against Spurs on Sunday wouldn't have come as much of a surprise to Whites supporters as he demonstrated his immense technical ability and never-say attitude to cause the Tottenham backline loads of problems.

Although it is a shame that fans aren't getting to see Rutter pull off those moments of magic in the Championship under the management of Daniel Farke, it is nice to see him begin to realise his potential at the highest level.

Hopefully, Leeds will join him in the Premier League next season and manage to keep hold of the likes of Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani who have replaced the Frenchman at the top end of the pitch.
