Leeds United star Raphinha involved in new development after international incident

The Brazilian FA have launched an appeal to FIFA to get Nicolas Otamendi punished after he was videoed slamming his elbow into Leeds United man Raphinha.

Globo Esporte claim that the CBF have asked the former Manchester City man to be sanctioned for his “cowardly” act during Brazil’s game against Argentina during the international break.

Otamendi appeared to throw his elbow in the direction of the 24-year-old, and the incident left the Leeds man needing medical attention [The Athletic].

Therefore, it is no real surprise to see that the CBF have launched an official complaint, and it will be intriguing to see what the outcome will be.

Raphinha already making an impact on the international stage.

Given that it was just Raphinha’s fifth appearance for Brazil, it appears that he is already being targeted by opposition players, suggesting that opponents are worried about the winger.

Fortunately, Raphinha carried on after this incident and should hopefully be available for the Whites’ game against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Considering he is Leeds’ top goalscorer, we can imagine that many Whites fans will be hoping that the 24-year-old is fine and ready to play in what could be a huge game.

It is good to see that the Brazilian FA are trying to protect their player as much as they can, and hopefully, Otamendi is punished for this brutal incident that could have caused some serious damage.

Thankfully, it appears as if Raphinha got away with it, and we are looking forward to seeing him play at the weekend.

He is just a player who can elevate any match, and the game will be better if he is involved, and it will be better for Leeds as well.
