Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips proved to be a hero even after England had lost on penalties

A tweet from the Bleacher Report has emerged, which claims that Leeds United man Kalvin Phillips ran an incredible 83 kilmetres at Euro 2020, and his last run was towards Bukayo Saka to comfort the 19-year-old after he missed his penalty versus Italy.

The tweet includes three images of both Phillips and Saka, and you can clearly see from the first one that Phillips ran through the celebrations of the Italy team to comfort the Arsenal man.

This was an incredible gesture from the 25-year-old to comfort Saka, whose penalty miss allowed Italy to claim the trophy.

Lovely gesture

One of the players to come out of this tournament with a lot of national favour is Phillips, and moments like this should only add to his popularity.

The 25-year-old played every game for the Three Lions, ran himself into the ground and then, at the end of all that, was still the first one to comfort Saka.

Leeds United

Phillips might not have been who many England fans wanted to see in the side at the beginning of the tournament, but he has emerged from this as a national hero in many ways.

Of course, Leeds fans knew how good he was anyway, but it is fantastic that he has been exposed to more national fans now, who finally got to see how good the 25-year-old is.

Phillips has grown as a player in this tournament and you would think this could only benefit Leeds in the long run.

After the way he played in this tournament, it should be impossible for any other fans to say that Phillips doesn’t deserve to be in this England side, and he will surely add to those 15 caps he has racked up in the early days of his England career.
