Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips on Liverpool radar after failing to sign Aurelien Tchouameni – report

Liverpool are interested in making a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips after losing out to Real Madrid in pursuit of AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni, as per the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on 5 June (page 73) that the Reds have been in the market to sign a player to strengthen the midfield and were interested in a move for Tchouameni.

However, the French international is now closing in on joining reigning European champions Real in the coming days.

Therefore, as per the latest report, Liverpool have now turned their attention towards Leeds star player Phillips.

But the transfer is going to be a complicated one as the England international has also been linked with a move to reigning English champions Manchester City.

Concerning development

The recent news is going to be a cause of concern for the Leeds United fans as they will be hoping to keep the player at the Elland Road for at least one more reason after narrowly escaping relegation.

Phillips has already shown how influential he is to both Leeds and the England national team. He was a massive part of the side that returned to the Premier League in 2020 and finished in the top half.

Due to his performances under Marcelo Bielsa, he was selected in the England squad for the Euro 2020. During the competition, he was extremely influential in the middle of the park as England went all the way to the final and narrowly lost to eventual winners Italy.

It is therefore comes as a no-brainer that a club like Liverpool is also interested in signing the player who has been attracting interest from some of the other big boys in the Premier League as well.
