Leeds United squad poses for group photo at team meal – two defenders are missing

Leeds United players have been pictured out on a team bonding exercise this week, ahead of Sunday’s visit to Norwich City in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final.

But in the photo that has been posted on X [9 May], it has been noticed that two of the squad are missing.

Connor Roberts and Charlie Cresswell are two notable Leeds players absent from the picture, as supporters debate their whereabouts.

Roberts will return to parent club Burnley at the end of Leeds’ campaign, whilst Cresswell – under contract until 2027 – has only made five league appearances all season after spending last term on a successful loan spell with Millwall.

It was reported recently that Cresswell had fallen out with manager Daniel Farke over limited game time.

Who will stay and who will leave Leeds?

With Roberts expected to head back to Burnley – especially with the Clarets’ likely relegation from the Premier League – there appears to be no future concern regarding him.

The defender passed a late fitness test before last weekend’s defeat to Southampton but only played 13 minutes.

As for Cresswell, it’s becoming increasingly likely that the Thorp Arch academy product will move on in the summer, especially should Farke remain at the helm next season.

The England Under-21 man was linked with a permanent move to Millwall in January following his loan spell last year, and will gauge plenty of interest from various clubs as to his precarious position at Elland Road.

A reshuffle will be considered over the summer – profiles of player depending on the division Leeds will be in – but there could also be a move away for Marc Roca, and key performer Crysencio Summerville has unsurprisingly attracted Premier League interest.
