Leeds United shares behind-the-scenes clip of Kalvin Phillips at Thorp Arch
Kalvin Phillips is looking fit, healthy and in good spirits ahead of Jesse Marsch’s first game in charge of Leeds United on Saturday.
Leeds are likely to make the trip to Leicester without Phillips with the 26-year-old still recovering from a hamstring injury that has ruled him out since December.
It’s been shared numerous times that Phillips is expected to be back at some point in March and based on the behind-the-scenes video clip from Thorp Arch on Leeds’ Instagram story, the England international is making good progress.
It’s been one helluva depressing without Phillips available.
Leeds have won just two of the 11 Premier League games he’s missed since going off injured against Brentford in early December.
Phillips’ injury has, unfortunately, played a major role in Marcelo Bielsa’s sacking and the form that led up to that.
It’s not Phillips’ fault, obviously, but it’s just so unfortunate when a manager loses his job because of injuries.
If the England midfielder had been available for those last 11 matches, where would we be in the Premier League? You can bet we wouldn’t be just two points clear of the relegation zone in 16th.
Marsch has a tough job on his hands but at least he’ll know that Phillips – as well as potentially Patrick Bamford and Liam Cooper – could be back from their injuries by the end of the month.
It would be incredible if Phillips was available for this weekend.
That’s stretching it a bit but the video clip we’ve seen on Leeds’ Instagram account is very, very encouraging.
In other Leeds United news, another one of Marcelo Bielsa’s close allies has left Elland Road.
