Leeds United set to table club record bid to sign Club Brugge forward Charles de Ketelaere
Leeds United will reportedly submit a club record-equalling bid to sign Club Brugge forward Charles de Ketelaere this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Whites will submit £26million bid for the highly-rated 21-year-old Belgian attacker.
That will equal the fee they paid to Valencia two summers ago in order to secure the services of Spanish forward Rodrigo. [ESPN]
New record arrival?
Seldom are opening bids for players accepted in today’s day and age and we’re expecting Brugge to rebuff this offer the moment they receive it.
However, that should not deter Leeds as they’re in line for a major windfall from the sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
The major concern is of the player’s intentions and whether or not he actually fancies a move to Elland Road.
Personal terms is the key part of this deal and once that is agreed, we expect the rest to fall in place and for Leeds to make their fourth major signing.
They will undoubtedly be tabling another bid worth a higher valuation so if the 21-year-old joins he will be the club’s record signing.
This is a summer of huge change at Leeds and we’re hoping that it does not unsettle the squad and Jesse Marsch has a major task on his hands.
Hopefully, he can manage to convince the Belgian to jump ship and move to Elland Road but the chances of that happening right now appear bleak.
