Leeds United set to sign Mateo Joseph for £420,000 in January
Leeds United are set to complete the signing of Mateo Joseph in January for a fee of around £420,000 in January, according to The Daily Mail.
The Espanyol attacker has agreed on terms with the Whites and the deal is likely to get over the line once the window opens.
Initially, Spanish media outlet La Grada Online claimed that Leeds would have to pay £850,000, but it appears that they’re managing to pull off a deal for less than half the price.
While Joseph may be a relative unknown, the fact that he was linked with a move to Barcelona and Manchester City suggests that he’s got top potential.
It looked like they were paying close to a million for him, but now it’s less than half a million – which is clearly very good business.
Leeds have been known, over the last three years, to sign promising players on good transfer fees, and Joseph could be something similar.
The 18-year-old has been labelled by London News Time as someone with “Prolific striker skills”.
This would mean that Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood would be given runs for their money as another striker will be added to the mix.
It remains to be seen what the plans are for Joseph once he walks through the door.
He could either be loaned back to Espanyol or another club or look to become a regular for the Under-23s.
