Leeds United set to offer pay hike to Kalvin Phillips

Leeds United are reportedly in contract talks with Kalvin Phillips amid his recent transfer links.

The Mirror’s David Anderson has claimed that a pay rise is on the cards for the 26-year-old England international.

It is understood that there is a willingness from both parties to get this deal over the line with Phillips committing his future to his boyhood club.

Good move

Anderson talks about links to West Ham and Manchester United, but a new deal will keep the two clubs at bay.

They’re both in the battle for top four and should they secure Champions League football, they could be in the market for the best players.

The Hammers reportedly tabled an offer for Phillips in January which was knocked straight back to the capital.

Hopefully, Phillips signs a new deal and commits his future to the club for the next few seasons.

There’s a good chance that the Whites may include a buyout clause in his contract as that could be one of his prerequisites.

While he would not want a move to Manchester United, he may find it hard to say no to the likes of Manchester City or Chelsea if they come knocking on his door.

The 26-year-old is undoubtedly a Champions League level player and deserves to take on players at the top of the European game like did at Euro 2020.

In other Leeds United news, it is confirmed that the Whites made a ‘Strong offer’ to sign an ‘Exceptional’ Ligue 1 attacker with 10 G+A in 21/22
