Leeds United set to finalise Marc Roca transfer this week despite fear of last-gasp hijack
Leeds United are set to complete the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca this week, according to 90min on Monday afternoon [13 June].
The online outlet has reported that the Whites have moved quickly to win the race for the Spaniard in a £12million move with plenty of other clubs interested.
It is suggested that Leeds are in pole position for the signing, despite major 11th-hour fears that someone may come in and hijack the deal at the last minute.
Leeds are finally closing in after days of talks.
With the likes of West Ham and Wolves also interested, as well as many clubs in Spain, this is going to be an impressive coup for the Whites.
Victor Orta will have done his usual transfer presentation to try and persuade Roca to choose Elland Road, and it looks as though that may have done the trick.
For £12million as well, it appears that this could be a real bargain.
Leeds have moved quickly and perfectly at the start of this summer.
This is set to be our third major announcement already, and the window hasn’t even opened officially with Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen also confirmed.
Midfield was a real area of concern last season given the injuries to Adam Forshaw and Kalvin Phillips, so this signing was a top priority.
It may not be the only signing we make in this area too.
Phillips will be watching on closely with his contract talks surely ongoing, and he will want to see this kind of ambition so that last season doesn’t happen again.
Having a Spanish international alongside him in holding midfield could be critical to keeping him around, and it looks as though Jesse Marsch has got his man.
The final details will now be ironed out and then we can really start looking forward to this one.
