Leeds set for another signing as Ajax teenager rejects new contract to join Whites – report
Leeds United are getting busy in the transfer market.
Yesterday, they announced a new season-long loan for Jack Harrison and a permanent four-year deal for Wigan striker Joe Gelhardt.
Linfield youngster Charlie Allen was announced this morning on a three-year deal.
And the quest to sign the world’s best youth players continues this week. Sky Sports have reported that Fulham defender Cody Drameh is travelling to Leeds this week to complete a deal.
And Ajax Showtime has now reported that young goalkeeper Dani Van Den Heuvel has rejected a new contract at the Dutch side in favour of a move to Leeds.
The 17-year-old is a current Netherlands Under-17 international and has been at Ajax for three years after joining from ADO Den Haag.
The report says he had a new contract with Ajax “in his pocket but he did not accept that”.
The report claims he has opted for a “foreign adventure with Leeds”.
The news was repeated by the Ajax Youth Academy Twitter page.
Leeds getting busy – and we like it
Some Leeds fans are starting to moan that the club is signing too many young players, but not us.
Bielsa’s project is a holistic one and too many clubs ignore bringing up youth and fixate on spending money instead.
This is the wrong way to run a club in the modern world and we’re delighted that Leeds are putting so much importance on the stars of tomorrow.
Joe Gelhardt, Cody Drameh and Charlie Allen are all highly-rated youngsters.
We don’t know much about Dani Van Den Heuvel but we’ve got a lot of faith in the Leeds scouts at the moment.
He’s a Dutch Under-17 international and we look forward to welcoming him to Thorp Arch.
The future is looking very bright at Leeds.
