Leeds United see door open to sign Club Bruges forward Charles de Ketelaere

Leeds United reportedly see the door open to sign Club Bruges forward Charles de Ketelaere despite him not fancying a move to Elland Road.

According to RTL journalist Alexandre Braeckman, the Whites will be finding arguments to convince the player over a move and the scenario could change quickly despite his original stance.

His clarification comes after Phil Hay reported that Leeds will continue their pursuit of the 21-year-old attacker.

Via Twitter, Braeckman wrote, “Interesting info from The Athletic, always very well informed about the transfer window: Leeds continue their actions to get De Ketelaere. I never said the club was letting go. Will have to find arguments to convince the player now

“There is nothing more uncertain than a player’s position at the moment T. Everything can change very quickly and all the doors are still open. If Leeds are pushing, they see an opening.”

Going to be tough

Club Brugge played in the Champions League this past season and will once again compete against Europe’s elite in 2022/23.

For the 21-year-old to leave that and come to a side that fought a relegation battle will be a tough sell.

That said, Leeds play in the Premier League and are looking to establish themselves as a regular top-flight club under a new manager.

If they can convince de Ketelaere that they will make him front and centre of their rebuild and match his wage demands, then he could be tempted.

With Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha’s sales set to bring in a lot of money, the Whites will have the ability to break their transfer record in this window.

The 21-year-old can play as a secondary striker and we could even see him replacing Patrick Bamford as a regular in the team so the options are plenty.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has shared if a ‘Sensational’ defensive midfielder has agreed terms for an Elland Road switch and become the club’s fourth summer signing.
