Leeds United scout Middlesbrough defender Isaiah Jones

Leeds United have reportedly scouted Middlesbrough defender Isaiah Jones in 2022 ahead of a potential transfer.

According to TEAMtalk, the Whites are keen on signing a right-back and have identified the 22-year-old as a possible option.

Barring Leeds, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Ajax, RB Leipzig, Lyon as well as Roma are all keen on securing the Englishman’s services.

Worth it?

While Jones may be a right wing-back by trade, he is extremely versatile and can play in an advanced position.

This season, manager Chris Wilder has used him predominantly as a right winger so it’s not a position he’s uncomfortable playing in.

However, securing his services is not going to be easy, given the fact that he only signed a new deal recently.

Last November, the 22-year-old put pen to paper on a new contract that expires in the summer of 2025.

Jones, who’s having a “stellar” season at the Riverside Stadium could be tempted to leave as he would be playing in the Premier League.

However, to ensure that happens, Leeds must do everything they can to avoid the drop.

A lot of their arrivals may hinge on Marcelo Bielsa’s future so it’s imperative that he informs the club of his decision in the due course.

That said, if Jones is someone who’s being scouted, there must be others at the club who rate him as well and he could be signed even if Bielsa decides to leave.
