Leeds United relegation verdict shared by Gabby Agbonlahor in talkSPORT clip

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Leeds United to avoid relegation from the Premier League with Leicester City the team to finish 18th.

The Whites are currently 16th in the top flight and are coming off a damaging 5-1 home loss at the hands of Crystal Palace.

After previously stating that Southampton and Nottingham Forest would make up the bottom two teams, Agbonlahor backed Javi Gracia’s side to “dig” out results.

“I think Leicester [to be 18th], I do. I don’t care about the name, everyone says look who is down there,” said the talkSPORT pundit (talkSPORT video clip, 13 April).

“Bournemouth can fight out a result and put everything into a game and get a result.

“Teams like Bournemouth, Everton, Leeds, they will dig out results at home.”

Bounce back

A reaction is desperately needed after the Crystal Palace shambles. Leeds were absolutely horrific against Roy Hodgson’s side in the second half and they will be torn apart with a similar performance against Liverpool. The Reds travel to Elland Road off the back of an impressive draw against Arsenal; a game they probably should have won.

Gracia simply has to drill some sort of game management into his players. They were naive against Palace and left far too many gaps for the likes of Michael Olise to exploit. Liverpool have a far higher calibre of player and will almost certainly punish Leeds if given the chance.

Realistically, a point would be an excellent result, particularly with Fulham and Leicester to come. The West Londoners have lost four on the spin and are in a dire run of form at present. It’s an excellent chance for Leeds to put three points on the board and continue the good work which had been laid down before the Palace disaster.
