Leeds United reach agreement to sign Barcelona attacker Ilias Akhomach

Leeds United and Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Barcelona winger Ilias Akhomach.

According to Spanish media outlet Todofichajes.com [15 March], the Whites have beaten a number of clubs to the services of the 18-year-old as he rejected them in order to move to the Premier League.

It’s reported that the Spaniard is ready to play first-team football regularly and will “make the leap” to feature for the Elland Road outfit.

Good signing

As a teenager, Akhomach has already made his senior debut for the Spanish outfit so there’s certainly something noteworthy about him.

With his deal running out at the end of the season, he is free to negotiate with a foreign club and Leeds appear to be his preferred destination.

Xavi clearly does not feel he’s ready to play regularly and his loss now seems to be Leeds’ gain as they’re set to complete the first signing under Javi Gracia.

By the looks of it, he will be joining the first team as it would make no sense to leave Barcelona’s reserve team to join the Whites’ Under-21s outfit.

It remains to be seen whether there is any signing on bonus and also if he will commit for the long term as interest in his services is only going to increase.

A shrewd piece of business by Victor Orta and co if they indeed get this over the line without any last-minute haggles.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
