Leeds United: Andrea Radrizzani to make sweeping changes as Carlos Corberan approach expected

Leeds United are expected to make a move for West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan after the club decided to sack Jesse Marsch on 6 February, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Whites want to speak to Corberan about their vacant head coaches role, with the Spaniard already spending time at Elland Road for three years from 2017 to 2020.

The report claims that Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is expected to make sweeping changes at the club after he also sacked coaches Rene Maric, Cameron Toshack and Pierre Barrieu.

“Leeds are expected to make a move for West Brom coach Carlos Corberan after axing Jesse Marsch,” as quoted by the Daily Mirror. (7 February)

“Now Leeds want to speak to Spaniard Corberan, 39, who used to coach at Elland Road for three years from 2017-2020. Corberan has been a revelation at the Championship Baggies – steering the club into the play-offs despite inheriting a side in October propping up the table.

“Leeds’ Italian owner is expected to make sweeping changes after coaches Rene Maric, Cameron Toshack and Pierre Barrieu were also sacked. A club statement read: “We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future.”

Classy Corberan.

It’s a decision that the majority of the fanbase wanted to see and after the defeat to Nottingham Forest, it was hard to see any shining light for Marsch at Leeds United.

The club made the bold decision to sack the American before back-to-back games against Manchester United, two fixtures many thought Marsch would be in charge of.

Nevertheless, it was the right call made by Radrizzani and co, Marsch simply wasn’t getting results and his rhetoric off the pitch had become delusional.

Now, it seems like Corberan will be the first name on the hit list for the Whites and the club could do far worse than the classy West Brom manager.

His old ties with the club as Marcelo Bielsa’s number two will likely play a big part in this one and it will be tough for the Spaniard to say no to coming back to Elland Road.
