Leeds United prepare firm January offer for Real Madrid attacker Mariano Diaz
Leeds United are preparing a firm offer to sign Real Madrid attacker Mariano Diaz in January, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.
The 28-year-old has turned down a number of extensions at the Santiago Bernabeu and has made up his mind to leave the club.
He is understood to be one of Marcelo Bielsa’s favourite attackers, who wants his side to bring the Spaniard to Elland Road in the winter.

His release clause is close to £17million and the Spanish outfit will not put any obstacles in his way should he decide to leave.
Good move
At 28, Diaz may not be in the ideal age bracket for Bielsa, but given how he’s one of the players he admires, we can see him making an exception.
The Real attacker has struggled to find regular game time at a team that’s stacked with world class players in every position.
Moving to Leeds would see him given a chance to redefine his career and maybe even push for a spot in the Spanish national team.
Dan James and Jack Harrison have both struggled this season and having Diaz, who arguably is an upgrade on both of them, would be seen as tremendous business.

His release clause isn’t the highest and the fact that he’s angling for a move could mean that Real will bring down their valuation of the player.
Whether signing another attacker is Leeds’ priority is the question that needs to be asked.
They’ve been chasing a central midfielder for the past two years and probably would be better off spending this money on signing one.
