Leeds United predicted XI v Monaco: Mateusz Klich and Adam Forshaw axed, Mateo Joseph to start

Leeds United are set to take on Monaco in their final friendly match before the resumption of their Premier League season against Manchester City.

We expect a number of younger players to be given an opportunity to feature at Elland Road, with large swathes of the senior squad missing from the Whites’ open training session on Tuesday (20 November).

The Athletic’s Phil Hay revealed (via Twitter, 20 December) that Tyler Adams, Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra, Illan Meslier, Crysencio Summerville and Patrick Bamford were all present, but not taking part in the session.

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross also reported (via Twitter, 20 December) that Mateusz Klich and Adam Forshaw were also not involved and we expect the midfield duo not to feature after playing in the last friendly against Real Sociedad.

With Bamford still recovering from groin surgery, Rodrigo is set to start up front with Brenden Aaronson operating in attacking midfield. With Harrison missing from training, there’s a good chance Willy Gnonto will be given another runout, along with Mateo Joseph, who could come in to replace Klich in an attacking midfield role.

Marc Roca is likely to retain his spot, although he could have a new partner in midfield with Darko Gyabi potentially given a chance to start. With Meslier missing training at Elland Road, Joel Robles could retain his spot in a defence which is likely to be unchanged from the win over the La Liga side.

In other Leeds United news, an attacker linked with a move to Elland Road claims that he could leave his Champions League club in the January transfer window.
