Leeds United poised to appoint Manchester United coach Chris Armas
Leeds United are set to hire Chris Armas to join Jesse Marsch’s backroom staff, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on 8 June (page 68) that Armas, 49, will be quitting Manchester United to join the Whites having previously worked alongside Marsch at New York Red Bulls.
Armas worked with Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United as his assistant and has previously managed MLS sides New York Red Bills and Toronto FC.

Decent appointment?
Rangnick’s spell as the Manchester United manager will go down as one of the worst in Old Trafford’s history and Armas was there alongside him.
He was usually always by Rangnick’s side in the dug-out and struggled to gain anything but criticism while at the Red Devils.
According to The Athletic on 22 May, Sir Alex Ferguson even suggested to Armas that his coaching experience wasn’t enough for him to be a success at Man United.
It is understood that Armas was also stunned by the speed at which a game was played when Man United beat Norwich 1-0 at Carrow Road.

It doesn’t sound as though he had a good time at Man United and it doesn’t sound as though he was fully prepared for a coaching role in the Premier League.
But Marsch is calling on his old ally to come to Elland Road to join his team of coaches.
And while we do understand why he’d do that, isn’t he already surrounded by people he knows? Why not add at least one or two Premier League-experienced coaches to his team? And no, Armas’ time at Man United doesn’t count as a good amount of experience in our opinion.
Marsch is also signing two players from Red Bull Salzburg in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.
It feels as though we’re being made into Red Bull Leeds United or the United States of West Yorkshire rather than simply being Leeds United Football Club.
In other Leeds United news, a player has been spotted at Elland Road ahead of signing for the Whites.
