Leeds United player Cody Drameh set to have Cardiff medical today

Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is set to undergo his medical at Cardiff City later today, according to David Anderson.

The Mirror journalist claims that Leeds were reluctant to let him leave on loan initially.

However, they have now decided to sanction the player’s exit and he’s set to spend the rest of the season on loan at the Welsh club.

Anderson wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “Leeds have decided to let Cody Drameh join Cardiff on loan for the rest of the season.

“Initially they were reluctant because they have so many injuries, but Bielsa has decided he has enough bodies at right-back with Ayling and Dallas.

“Drameh is keen to go out on loan and play regular first-team football in the Championship. The right-back is due to have his medical with Cardiff later today.”

Bad move

Given the number of injuries in the Leeds side, it does not make sense to sanction Drameh’s exit.

He’s a right-back by trade but has also been deployed at left-back and fills a massive void in the side when first-team players are unavailable.

Loaning him out, limits the options Marcelo Bielsa has to call upon whenever there is an injury crisis at the club.

However, they will now have to prepare for life without Drameh and that should mean that Jamie Shackleton will continue playing at right-back.

He prefers playing in midfield, but it seems that he’s going to be a full-back at least until the end of the season.

It remains to be seen how this decision transpires in the coming weeks.
