Leeds United defender Junior Firpo hoped to be fit for the Premier League clash against West Ham on Sunday (January 16), according to Adam Pope.

The BBC journalist issued an update after the Spaniard was taken off in their FA Cup loss against the Hammers.

Firpo later confirmed that it was due to dizziness, but there still isn't a 100 per cent guarantee that he will be risked for the Premier League clash.

Hope he's back

There were worries when Firpo was taken off against the Hammers as many feared it was another player added to the injury list.

However, he then took to Twitter to allay any fears which is a relief, to say the least.

Leeds desperately need him to be fit over the weekend as he is the club's only out-and-out left-back.

Stuart Dallas and Cody Drameh can and have played there, but they're not specialised to play in that role.

In recent games, Firpo's performances, too, have drastically improved, and him getting injured could dearth any progress.

The next few days in training will be key to see whether or not he's good enough to play in the Premier League this weekend against a team in form.

Marcelo Bielsa and his coaching staff will obviously not take any risks and will ensure that the Spaniard is medically cleared before naming him in the playing eleven.
