Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton could leave if Ola Aina arrives

Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton may be closing in on an exit if the club are seriously pursuing the services of another right-back.

According to Tuttosport, Ola Aina has been transfer listed at Torino and the Whites are said to be watching him very closely.

The 25-year-old is a right-back by trade and is a full Nigeria international, having made his debut for them in 2017.

Apart from that, he’s also got prior Premier League experience when he spent a season on loan at Fulham.

Chelsea are known to be one of the best talent production academies in Europe and Aina hails from their famed system.

He joined the club in 2007 as an 11-year-old and stayed with them until 2019 – making three senior appearances.

Should Leeds seriously pursue his services this month, Shackleton may want to leave the club.

While he prefers playing in midfield, Marcelo Bielsa has used him as a right-back due to the number of injuries in the squad.

Shackleton has had no qualms as he previously was unhappy with the lack of game time but he’s been handed that this season.

Should Aina come in, he is certainly going to be ahead of the 22-year-old who has been labelled “excellent” by Phil Hay.

The Leeds midfielder’s agent has previously spoken about having another look at his client’s situation in January and links to another right-back certainly don’t make very good reading for Shackleton’s Elland Road future.

In other Leeds United news, a football finance expert has issued a claim on Marcelo Bielsa’s sacking claim amid Andrea Radrizzani’s ties to the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers.
