Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani takes dig at Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez for Argentina World Cup celebrations
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani does not seem to be a fan of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez’s celebrations after Argentina’s World Cup win.
Martinez ended up making a lewd gesture after winning the goalkeeper of the tournament award and then poked fun at Kylian Mbappe during the bus parade.
Journalist Tariq Panja ended up calling him one of the worst winners and that tweet was retweeted by Radrizzani and the Leeds owner also responded with certain emojis on Twitter.
Martinez has gotten plenty of criticism and rightly so from the media as well as ex players and now team owners too.
He’s forgetting that Mbappe put four past him in the World Cup final and had it not been for Lionel Messi’s brilliance, he would not even be holding the trophy in his hands.
The Villa man may be a good keeper but he’s shown everyone that he’s not a winner and we would never see classy players mocking others in this way.
It’s good to see Radrizzani weighing in with this dig and it surely will resonate with many people who share his sentiments.
Martinez may be a winner, but he’s certainly failed to command the respect of fans globally and has unnecessarily dampened a proud moment for his country.
We will not be surprised if he’s even booed at Premier League games as this is certainly an unacceptable gesture and the public are not on his side.
