Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani not going to buy Pescara

Leeds United Andrea Radrizzani has been linked with buying a couple of clubs in recent months, and Pescara are the latest side he has been tipped to buy.

However, the president of the Italian outfit Daniele Sebastiani has denied claims that he wants to sell the Serie C side to the businessman, insisting they have never met.

The Elland Road outfit could soon have new owners as the San Francisco 49ers have a deal in place to complete a full takeover for around £475million, and while Radrizzani could be looking to own another club, it appears Pescara are not an option.

“Negotiation with Radrizzani? Absolutely not, I deny,” Sebastiani told Il Pescara.

“I do not know him and have never had any contacts.

“I want to say this because I would not want anyone to think that this news comes out of the club.”

Fair enough

Radrizzani leaving Leeds United is just a matter of “when”, and not “if” from the look of things, and he will always go down in Whites folklore as a hero after helping to return the club to the top-flight after 16 seasons.

He was linked with Salernitana in June, but he denied reports that he would be signing the Serie A outfit.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay claimed in February that the Leeds chairman wants to form a multi-club ownership model in Europe, with that expected to help the club get around post-Brexit transfer rules and regulations.

A new points-based work permit system now makes it tough for low-profile targets who are yet to play for their countries to meet the visa requirements, with 15 points needed for them to move to England.

However, an appearance on a teamsheet of clubs in Europe’s big five leagues is worth 12 points, making a potential transfer target get close to the threshold of qualifying for a UK work permit.

Should the Leeds owner buy a club in one of the other big leagues, that would see the Elland Road outfit bring in players from there without complications, but that could be off the cards with Radrizzani likely to sell his remaining shares to 49ers soon.
