Leeds United now in pole position to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay – Di Marzio

Leeds United are now in pole position to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay in January, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist has shared that the Whites have jumped ahead of Bologna after the Scottish club were not convinced by their proposal.

The Serie A side are said to have proposed a loan with an option to buy, rather than one with an obligation.

That has seen Leeds jump into pole position.

Victor Orta is said to have placed a £3million offer for the right-back sensation in recent days, and that news came from Di Marzio, too.

The Italian journalist appears to be in the know regarding this transfer, with Leeds now placed as favourites to get it done.

Pole.

This would make sense.

Ramsay is a right-back by trade, but could he help fill in at left-back if needed? That could well be something that Marcelo Bielsa would look to do.

On top of that, Cody Drameh deciding to push for that move to Cardiff City on loan has left a big lack of options on the right too.

If something was to happen to Luke Ayling, given Junior Firpo’s absence, there would be very limited options at Elland Road.

That is where Ramsay comes in, and if a deal could be done for under £5million for one of Scotland’s brightest talents, it would be a sensational piece of business.

Leeds need signings, and although this isn’t the huge name that many would expect before Monday’s deadline, it would make a lot of sense at this moment in time.
