Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund want to sign Leeds United talent Cody Drameh

Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are eyeing up a potential January move for Leeds United wonder Cody Drameh, according to Mail Sport.

England under-21 full-back Drameh only joined Leeds United from Fulham last summer and spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City.

The report claims that due to the youngsters’ lack of game time at Leeds this season, Newcastle and Dortmund have been put on red-alert.

“Newcastle spent deadline day trying to land West Ham’s young right back youngster Harrison Ashby but were unable to get a deal over the line,” states journalist Adrian Kajumba as quoted by Mail Sport.

“They retain an interest in Ashby but Drameh also fits the profile they are looking for as a player who would not take up one of the slots in their 25-man Premier League squad due to his age.

“Dortmund, meanwhile, are no strangers to the English market and, in particular, snapping up young talents and accelerating their development by offering them a platform to perform at first-team level.”

Last chance.

It looks like Drameh missed his last chance to shine in Leeds United’s Carabao Cup tie against Wolves on Wednesday evening.

The youngster was nowhere to be seen in a squad flooded with Premier League 2 talents, a potential sign that his days may be numbered at Elland Road.

Joel Robles, Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph all made their debuts for the club on a night where the fantastic youth at the club was showcased.

Leo Hjelde and Joe Gelhardt also got the nod at a start and Drameh’s absence is an all but telling sign.

Drameh may have missed the game due to injury, but this hasn’t been confirmed or denied by the club.

It would have been his last real chance to play for Leeds before the January transfer window and with big European clubs like Dortmund now circling his exit could be near.

Having won Cardiff City’s Player of the Season award last year it would be a shame to see Drameh leave, he looks like a real top talent.

In other Leeds United news, the club have now put up a first-team player on sale as they expect top EFL sides to make a move for him in January.
