Leeds United narrow shortlist down to four managers with Mauricio Pochettino and Steven Gerrard not in contention

Leeds United have reportedly narrowed their shortlist down to four names as they look to hire their next manager quickly after sacking Jesse Marsch.

According to the Daily Star [7 February], the Whites will not be appointing Marcelo Bielsa, Mauricio Pochettino or Steven Gerrard as Andrea Radrizzani flies out of the United Kingdom for Italy.

The names they’re considering are Carlos Corberan, Kjetil Knutsen and Ange Postecoglou with the fourth not being mentioned in the report.

Knutsen a good shout

Knusten has got Bodo Glimt to punch above their weight with a limited budget and he’s been linked with a Premier League move for a while.

He plays a good brand of football and manages to achieve success in it – something that cannot be said about Marsch.

Knusten surely will feel that he’s outgrown the challenge at Bodo and a move could very well be on the cards for him if Leeds come calling.

Both Corberan and Postecoglou have also done relatively well at West Brom and Celtic respectively and we can understand the links to them as well.

Corberan, of course, knows the club and the hierarchy well as he was at Elland Road during the Marcelo Bielsa days.

Postecoglou has won the league at Celtic and is looking to do the same again this season as well so it remains to be seen if he’ll be open to a mid-season exit.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now preparing to sign a former Barcelona defender in the summer and have already taken decisive steps towards sealing the deal.
