Leeds United most serious to sign Valentin Castellanos after Manchester City said no and offered round Premier League

Leeds United are most interested in signing New York City FC striker Valentin Castellanos this summer, according to 90min on Friday afternoon [03 June].

The online outlet have reported that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City turned down the chance to sign the Argentine from their parent club, instead offering him around the Premier League.

Leeds are said to be looking for a serious solution in the final third, with Castellanos an option to arrive after becoming the hottest property in the MLS.

Jesse Marsch is really putting his foot on the pedal at the start of this window with Victor orta.

Orta has already been spotted in New York with Angus Kinnear only a stones’ throw away from their stadium, with links already being started with Castellanos.

The 23-year-old has been on fire in front of goal and has already hit double figures during this current season after firing his club the MLS Cup glory the year before.

Patrick Bamford should be fit and firing for the new 2022-23 season in the Premier League, but with his injury record, new signings are desperately needed.

City no, Leeds yes?

Manchester City may have said no because their striker dealings are already finished this summer.

The Premier League champions already have a deal in place for Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland will of course be joining from Borussia Dortmund to terrorise everyone.

Where would Castellanos fit? He simply wouldn’t.

That is where Leeds could take advantage and get a move on the cheap, fending off the likes of West Ham, Everton and Newcastle for a major new signing.

With Brenden Aaronson already signed, and Rasmus Kristensen on the verge of signing, all eyes will then move to the final third and likely Castellanos.

Leeds are moving fast to get their business sorted quickly, and if they are all in place for the tour of Australia in pre-season, that would be perfect.

Marsch will be waiting for positive news from Orta and Kinnear in his homeland, let’s hope they do not come back empty-handed from their travels.
