Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca continues to impress
Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca has been impressive so far, and he has made the 5th most progressive passes in the Premier League this season.
According to journalist Conor McGilligan, the Whites midfielder has made 37 progressive passes so far, and he is only behind the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kevin De Bruyne, Kieran Trippier and Joao Cancelo.
Roca joined in the summer transfer window from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal for an initial fee of £10m, and has been tremendous under Jesse Marsch.
McGilligan wrote on Twitter: “Marc Roca has made the 5th most progressive passes in the Premier League so far this season (37). Only behind Trent, KDB, Trippier and Cancelo. Baller.”
This summer, Leeds needed to bolster their midfield department after Kalvin Phillips had left the club to join Manchester City.
Phillips was an influential midfielder, and his departure left a big hole in the middle of the park. Marsch didn’t go for a like-for-like replacement, rather he has reshaped the midfield to his own taste.
Roca has been superb so far, and Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Graham Smyth hailed him on 28 September as the signing of the season.

The Spaniard has added new dynamism to the current Leeds squad. He is a complete midfielder who is gradually proving to be a vital member of the side.
The 25-year-old was outstanding in the 3-0 win against Chelsea, and he was equally brilliant in the 1-1 against Everton.
Leeds have made a good start to the season so far, but they need to maintain the consistency. They face Aston Villa after the international break at Elland Road, and Roca is expected to start for the Whites.
The Whites fans will be thrilled by how quickly Roca has adapted here, and it won’t take him much time to become a cult hero if he keeps on performing at the top-level.
In other Leeds United news, European newspapers are raving over the “animalistic’” performance of one Whites star on international duty.
