Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips reveals how long he will have off before returning to training

A video of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips taken by @andybarker90 has emerged on Twitter in which the 25-year-old reveals how much holiday he has before he returns to training.

After playing a key role for England in the Euros on their route to the final and playing in every game, the Leeds star revealed that he only has “11 days off” before he has to return to training.

This seems like a very short amount of time after an intense summer, but if anyone can manage that routine, it is probably Phillips, given the amount of ground he covered during the Euros for England [BBC].

Should Phillips get a longer rest?

If you include the prolonged 2019/20 season, which didn’t end for the Whites until the end of July, Phillips has been playing football for either club or country almost non-stop for nearly two years.

Yes, he has had injury problems and missed a few games, but overall, he has played a lot of football, and after such an intense Euros, 11 days seems like a very short amount of time to recover or go on holiday.

However, Phillips has proven himself to be a warrior for both the Whites and the Three Lions, and you would expect him to be raring to go against Manchester United in Leeds’ opening fixture of the Premier League season.

The only slight concern is that this increased workload could lead to more injuries for the 25-year-old, which would negatively impact both Leeds and England.

Hopefully, he is fine, and he seems to find the fact he only has 11 days off quite funny in the footage, so maybe he isn’t too concerned.

In other Leeds United news, a big update on the future of reported Leeds target Nahitan Nandez has emerged, it could be good news for the Whites.
