Leeds United midfield Adam Forshaw set to sign new deal this week or next

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is set to sign a new contract at the club shortly, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Forshaw has a contract at the club until the end of the season, but a new deal is expected to be concluded in the next couple of weeks.

He has been a revelation for the Whites since returning from a long-term injury and it has been described as a “remarkable” comeback from him.

Smart decision

The 30-year-old made a remarkable comeback after a long injury lay-off this season.

He suffered a hip injury in 2019 and required complicated surgeries. At one point in felt that he may not be able to feature again for the Whites.

But after a delayed return coupled with many setbacks in between, he has consolidated his position in the side.

He made a comeback against Leicester City and has not looked back since. The former Middlesbrough midfielder has made 11 Premier League appearances and has also featured in the FA Cup defeat against West Ham.

Forshaw still has got plenty of football left in him, and it seems the dark days of injury problems are behind him. He can still be a pivotal member of the side for years to come.

With Kalvin Phillips out injured and Leeds no close to signing another midfielder, Bielsa is left with little option but to place his trust in Forshaw.

He has duly delivered. And the club are looking to reward him. Perfect.
