Leeds United: Mateusz Klich excited to join D.C. United and quit Elland Road in transfer news
Mateusz Klich is excited to leave Leeds United and seal his transfer to D.C. United with the move now in advanced stages, according to MLS Soccer.
Klich, 32, has been at Elland Road since 2017 and featured 174 times for the club, but has struggled for game-time this season – with a move to the MLS set to make him a key player again.
The Polish international played in Leeds’ friendly against La Liga side Elche and scored a stunning winner from outside the area to help Jesse Marsch’s side to a 2-1 win.

But according to the report, the Whites stalwart is eyeing a move away from the Premier League and is excited by the prospect of life under manager Wayne Rooney.
The report said: “Klich is excited about a potential move to D.C. United, where he’s expected to be a key player under head coach Wayne Rooney.
“Rooney took over at D.C. last summer and has helped overturn the roster, with 2023 his first full season after last leading Derby County in England.”

Sensible move
The rumours of Klich’s exit will be a sad prospect for Leeds fans, with the midfielder an instrumental part of the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
He has spent a brilliant five years at the club, and if he wants a move away, it can’t really be denied.
The legs have started to get that little bit slower in the last season, and it is now unclear as to whether Klich possesses the quality to start for Leeds on a weekly basis.
In the Championship, the Polish international was immense and was one of the first names on Marcelo Bielsa’s teamsheet.
He has always given his all for the club, but under Marsch, it just hasn’t quite clicked.
Whether the move goes through to D.C. United or he moves elsewhere in the summer, Klich will be remembered by the Elland Road faithful for his huge contributions to the club.
