Leeds United: Marc Roca mystery emerges, ‘everything has gone wrong’ in Spain

Marc Roca’s continued absence for Real Betis has continued to raise questions about the Leeds United loanee as “everything has gone wrong”, according to El Desmarque.

The Spanish news outlet reported [4 April] that the 27-year-old became one of Manuel Pellegrini’s mainstays but multiple injuries have hindered his loan spell in recent weeks.

It is understood that the Leeds loanee is following a “specific plan” to get back to full fitness, suffering from a discomfort in his knee, followed by pneumonitis, and a series of ankle issues.

“Marc Roca’s absence continues to raise questions. The midfielder became a key player for Manuel Pellegrini, missing just one game in the first part of the season,” Alvaro Borrego wrote.

“The player on loan from Leeds became the most used by the coach, alternating the defensive pivot with the centre-back position… But everything has gone awry in the last two months.”

Could Marc Roca ever play for Leeds United again?

The likelihood is that Roca has already played his final match for the Whites, having jumped ship when the clubs were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Though the midfielder has impressed in La Liga, and performing well in the Europa League, the recent injury update will be a big worry ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spanish side are already having second thoughts about signing Roca on a permanent deal, as per Diario de Sevilla, though the player seems to have no desire to return to Elland Road next season.

It seems that the midfielder would only return to his parent club if Daniel Farke is able to claim promotion to the Premier League this season, which shows no motivation from the player whatsoever.

Fans in Yorkshire will be hoping that Roca can recover and persuade Real Betis to purchase him, with no room for the midfielder back at Elland Road anymore, alongside Glen Kamara, Ilia Gruev, Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray.
