Leeds United have now made an official approach to sign Swansea City striker Joel Piroe ahead of the deadline, according to Ian Mitchelmore.

The Wales Online journalist has reported that the Welsh club remain determined to keep both him and Michael Obafemi despite late interest in both.

Nothing else has happened apart from an approach, with no money placed on the table as they scramble after missing out on Bamba Dieng at Marseille in that massive saga.

Writing on his personal Twitter account in recent hours, Mitchelmore shared the latest news as the Whites made that last-gasp desperate attempt.

“Swansea remain determined to keep hold of Michael Obafemi and Joel Piroe,” he wrote.

“Leeds made an approach for Piroe but that’s it for now.”

After being linked with the pace and flair of Dieng, Hwang Hee-Chan and Cody Gakpo, this is very underwhelming and reeks of desperation.

Andrea Radrizzani has been made to look a fool in his hunt for a new striker, and Orta will be pulling out his hair as he faces yet another deadline day with someone pulling the plug.

Dan James is set to join Fulham before the deadline too, meaning we could let go of one of our first-team squad and not replace him, leaving us weaker on paper.

It makes no sense.

Piroe has found the net numerous times for Swansea, but he gives us nothing that Patrick Bamford does right now, so what is the point of it being done?

Either way, it looks as though it won’t be happening given the determination of Swansea to keep their players, as we snooze towards the finish line at 11 pm.
