Leeds United make contact with Francis Coquelin as he rejects ‘Exotic’ transfers
Leeds United have made contact with Francis Coquelin regarding his fitness as the Whites look to sign a free-agent midfielder, according to Super Deporte.
The news outlet reported [22 October] that after leaving Villareal this summer, the former Arsenal star has already rejected “exotic” offers over his next move.
Fabrizio Romano has since reported, however, that another Frenchman, Josuha Guilavogui has signed a contract to join the Whites.
Francis Coquelin would add quality to Leeds United
Coquelin has vast Premier League experience, having spent many years at Arsenal, albeit not as a starter.
After leaving the Gunners, the 33-year-old played for the likes of Valencia and Villareal in La Liga before becoming a free agent.
As things stand, Leeds are low on numbers in the middle of the park after Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev both picked up knee injuries.

However, Farke has been lucky as Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have stepped in diligently, and the Japanese star put in a brilliant performance against Watford in the 2-1 win on 22 October.
With Guilavogui signing on the dotted line, it seems extremely unlikely that Coquelin will also make the move unless something goes badly wrong in the coming hours.
Daniel Farke made it clear that he needs more options, and it looks like his squad will be reinforced ahead of the trip to Bristol City on 26 October.
