Leeds United make central midfield and full-back new transfer priorities – Sky Sports

Leeds United have now made transfers for a new full-back and central midfielder their priorities, according to Sky Sports.

The Whites have already confirmed a deal for attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson and are moving quickly to get more business done before players return for pre-season.

Sky Sports have shared the priorities that may shock some fans, with a new striker also desperately needed for Jesse Marsch as he looks to improve his squad depth.

Writing for Sky Sports on Tuesday morning [31 May], Tim Thornton shared the latest plans in West Yorkshire with one deal already ticked off.

“Brenden Aaronson has already signed but will probably play more as an inverted winger so central midfield remains a priority,” he wrote. “That is an area where they definitely need to strengthen.

“At full-back, Stuart Dallas has a long-term injury. Junior Firpo might improve in his second season as a lot of players do and Luke Ayling has done a good job for the team, but more competition is needed because Dallas was so versatile and could cover a number of positions. That is a priority.”

Everchanging.

With these injury worries set to get into next season too, the full-back situation has likely jumped ahead of the final third in recent weeks at Elland Road.

Phil Hay has reported that RB Salzburg defender Rasmus Kristensen is now a big target, and the Danish international could only cost £10million this summer.

That on top of a new midfielder would be perfect.

Kalvin Phillips has clear doubts around his future, but tying him down to a new contract with the promise of more midfield signings in support would be a masterstroke by Andrea Radrizzani.

Mateusz Klich hasn’t looked himself in recent months, and Adam Forshaw just isn’t consistent enough with his fitness so more reinforcements are needed.

If those two moves can be done in the next month, we could find ourselves with plenty of time to find a new striker, making it the perfect summer that has been needed for years.

Bring it on.
