Leeds United looked at Axel Tuanzebe on transfer deadline day - Phil Hay
Leeds United were offered the chance to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzene on transfer deadline day, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist has reported that the Whites took a good look at the young eforcer, but decided to remain as they were at Elland Road.
After Diego Llorente left to join Roma on a loan with an option to buy, there were concerns regarding the depth at the right-hand side of the defence, but those look to have been put to bed.
Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared that one more move was potentially waiting on a plate before the club decided against it.
“Loaning Diego Llorente to Roma means right-sided central defenders are not crawling out of the woodwork either,” he wrote.
“On deadline day, Leeds looked briefly at Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe as additional cover after he was offered to them before deciding to remain as they were.”

Panic.
This would likely have been a panic button signing, likely on loan for a player who is somehow still at Manchester United after all these years.
Victor Orta and his team will work very closely with Jesse Marsch and his team, with a list of players to target, and a list of those who could likely move on.
Llorente will have been on that from day one, and the fact that Leeds could now recover the £18million, potentially even more, will leave them delighted.
Tuanzebe has been that one player who just gets thrown around on loan deals without any real chance of ever proving himself and playing for Manchester United.
This would have been a desperate signing at the very last minute, and with Diogo Monteiro also arriving on deadline day, we would much rather resources be placed in him.
Hopefully, this doesn’t come back to haunt us between now and the end of the season.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites were seriously considering another bid for one of their players to potentially leave on deadline day.
