Leeds United 'seriously considering' bid from Stoke City for Charlie Cresswell

Both Leeds United and Charlie Cresswell are “seriously considering” a bid from Stoke City on the deadline day (31 January), according to LUFCFANZONE.

Phil Hay reported on 31 January (deadline day blog, The Atheltic) that Stoke are exploring a late move for the 20-year-old defender, who’s currently on loan at Millwall.

Now according to Twitter account LUFCFANZONE (31 January), who Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani follows and confirmed has sources, a source close to the defender has told them that the Whites considering a bid from the Championship outfit to sell him permanently.

“A source close to Charlie Cresswell has told LUFCFANZONE that both Leeds United and the player are ‘seriously considering’ a bid from Stoke City,” wrote LUFCFANZONE on Twitter.

Disappointing

It will be very disappointing if Cresswell leaves the club to join Stoke on a permanent deal.

The youngster is one of the brightest talents to have progressed through the academy ranks. Marcelo Biers gave him his debut in the Premier League, and it was thought that he would become a regular at the club in the future.

The on-loan Millwall defender is one of the best young talents in English football, but we can understand why he wants to move on.

Leeds are choc-a-bloc with central defenders at the moment, and the youngster would really struggle to get into the senior side.

Even though Diego Llorente has left the club to join Roma, Leeds still have the likes of Liam Cooper, Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk, Max Wober, and Leo Hjelde.

Plus, the club signed a fantastic young defender Diogo Monteiro who is potentially ahead of Cresswell in the pecking order.

He started well at Millwall but hasn’t featured prominently in recent weeks.

Leicester have agreed to sign Stoke’s Harry Souttar, and they are now looking to fill his void by landing Cresswell. It should be a good move for all parties involved.
