Leeds United loanee Ian Poveda admitted to hospital on Saturday

Leeds United loanee Ian Poveda suffered a major injury scare during his game for Blackburn against Bristol City on Saturday.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Poveda was stretchered off during the first half of the 1-1 draw and was taken straight to the hospital.

It is suspected that he has ankle ligament damage which could mean he risks facing a considerable amount of time on the sidelines.

Scary

Whenever a player is stretchered off there’s a good chance that they’re likely to be out for a number of weeks.

Knowing footballers, they’re reluctant to be carried off the pitch and prefer walking or limping out even if they’re in tremendous pain.

Poveda was making his fourth league start of the season after finding the back of the net in his previous game and it would’ve been good for him to get some time and hopefully score some more goals.

It remains to be seen how the Leeds United hierarchy want to handle this situation.

If he’s likely to be out for the majority of the months remaining this season, they could decide to bring the youngster back to the club and treat him at Thorp Arch.

Leeds’s facilities are undoubtedly better than Blackburn’s and it could be advised that Poveda is recalled from his loan if he’s not going to feature too much this term.
