Leeds United keen on Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone

Leeds United are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Cagliari forward Giovanni Simeone, according to reports from L’Arena.

The Whites are primarily interested in signing the Argentine next summer, but they could still get a deal done in January as well provided his asking price is met.

Atletico Madrid and Napoli are also keen to secure the signature of the Argentine who has sparkled since joining Hellas Verona on loan this summer.

Smart signing

A reunion with his father, Diego Simeone, would be a dream move but Leeds appear to be genuinely interested in him.

The Argentine forward joined Hellas Verona on loan from Cagliari this summer. He has managed 12 goals and two assists in Serie A thus far.

The report suggests that Verona can only sign him permanently at the end of the season by paying around £10million (12 million Euros).

At the moment, he can be sold for no less than £15million (18 million Euros), and that price could easily go up.

Marcelo Bielsa needs to add depth and quality to his squad, and he could be given funds in January to bring players of his choice, with the club fighting tooth and nail for survival.

Simeone is in great form at the moment. He is a versatile attacker who can play as a striker as also out wide and with his best years ahead of him, he could be a smart signing for Leeds if they can pull off a deal.
