Leeds United: Jesse Marsch wowed by Archie Gray in new Premier League admission

Leeds United are now on the pathway to return to the Premier League this season under Daniel Farke, according to former Elland Road boss Jesse Marsch.

The Whites currently sit second in the Championship table, two points ahead of third-placed Southampton as they look to win automatic promotion back to England’s top flight at the first time of asking.

While Marsch has been impressed by the number of young stars flourishing under Farke’s management this season, he has admitted that he has been wowed by Archie Gray’s development as he has heaped praise on the teenager.

Speaking on a preview for Monday Night Football, where he was a guest, and broadcast by Sky Sports News on Monday (19 February) he said: “Yes (I’ve been keeping an eye on them), I think they’re playing good football, it’s good to see a lot of the young lads that were establishing themselves when I was there starting to play well.

“It’s really good to see Archie Gray establishing himself as a good young talent, I’m really happy for him. I think they’re on a pathway now to get themselves back in the Premier League.”

Jesse Marsch convinced Archie Gray and Leeds United are off to the Premier League

Leeds United have been incredibly impressive since Farke arrived in Yorkshire, despite the fact that the German has had to undo a lot of the work left at Elland Road by Marsch following his poor stint in charge of the Whites.

Farke immediately had to rebuild almost the entirety of the squad following relegation and while that included buying some exceptional talents, he has put an awful lot of faith into the young players waiting in the wings.

Gray is the best example of this as the teenager has gone from strength to strength in his first full season of first-team football, excelling in a variety of different positions as Leeds push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Whether or not the Whites will have what it takes to win automatic promotion this season remains to be seen but at the moment, it feels as though things are heading in the right direction at Elland Road, with the pathway to the top-flight clearing ahead of the Farke’s side
