Leeds United injury news as Daniel Farke shares new Pascal Struijk update ahead of Millwall clash
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that both Jamie Shackleton and Jaidon Anthony will be available for selection against Millwall but no Pascal Struijk, according to Phil Hay.
The Whites welcome Neil Harris’ side to Elland Road on Sunday (17 March) as they look to maintain their unbeaten Championship run at home this season and strengthen their grip on a place in the automatic promotion places.
While Leeds will be boosted by the return of two players who have been on the fringes this season, they will still be without Pascal Struijk after Farke confirmed the Dutch defender’s season could be over if surgery is required.
Writing on X on Friday (15 March) The Athletic’s Hay said: “Shackleton and Anthony both in contention. But less positive news with Struijk – hasn’t returned on schedule. He’s had injections but might need surgery.
“Farke says a decision on what next for Struijk will come in the next 10 days – says this period will be ‘decisive’. If Struijk needs surgery, that will be season over for him.”
When will Pascal Struijk be fit to play again for Leeds United?
It feels as though years have passed since Struijk was last seen in a Leeds United shirt and that is almost true as the Dutchman hasn’t featured for the Whites since their Boxing Day defeat at the hands of Preston North End at Deepdale.
Before his injury, the 24-year-old was one of the form players in the Championship and had begun to build an excellent defensive partnership with Joe Rodon at Elland Road that had proven to be incredibly formidable.
Luckily for Farke, Ethan Ampadu has stepped into the backline and performed equally as well while Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara have flourished in midfield together to give Leeds an excellent balance all over the pitch.
Hopefully, the Dutchman won’t require surgery and will be back in Farke’s backline before the end of the season, but at this moment in time, things don’t seem to be going well for Struijk and his recovery.
