Leeds United in advanced talks with Lyon attacker Tete
Leeds United are reportedly in advanced talks with Lyon attacker Tete who appears to be on his way out of the French club.
According to Goal journalist Marc Mechenoua, the 22-year-old could leave the Ligue 1 side in the next few hours as he’s also missed training on Friday, 27 January.
It has been reported that the Brazilian winger is close to moving to Elland Road.
Via Twitter, Mechenoua wrote, “Absent from training this morning, Tete should leave Lyon in the next few hours. Advanced discussions with Leeds. The player is there.”
Out of the blue
Nobody saw this one coming as there haven’t been any links with the Whites all summer and now talks are suddenly at an advanced stage.
This one is quite strange and we’re surprised that Leeds have kept it under wraps if their interest is genuine and not just media speculation.
Leeds clearly do not need another wide player and if this impacts their ongoing pursuit of Weston McKennie then they definitely should steer clear of it.

Hopefully, there are funds to get both deals over the line and if they’re not, they have to prioritise signing the Juventus midfielder.
It remains to be seen what comes of the Tete pursuit as all of this has come out from the blue and we’re still trying to process it.
He is a good player undoubtedly and will only get better with time but he is not what Jesse Marsch’s side needs right now.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
