Leeds United have registered interest in Sassuolo star Jeremie Boga
Leeds United have registered an interest in Sassuolo attacking midfielder Jeremie Boga, according to the Daily Mail.
Everton and Crystal Palace are also keen on the 24-year-old alongside the Whites, but none of the Premier League trio have tabled a bid for him.
Atalanta want the Marseille-born Ivory Coast international too, but Sassuolo have rejected their £15.5million bid.
Worth a gamble?
An attacking midfielder is not a top priority for Leeds this summer, but head coach Marcelo Bielsa would move for one if the latter stages of the window presented the right player [The Athletic].
Boga has 18 goals and eight assists in 90 games for Sassuolo, with six of them coming last term.
The former Chelsea ace was involved in 13 league goals in 2019-20, and could be open to returning to a return to the Premier League having not been given a chance to prove himself with the Blues.
During a loan spell at Birmingham City while contracted to the west London side, he actually played at Elland Road in September 2017 as the Whites beat the Midlands club 2-0.
As revealed by data from FBref.com, Boga averaged 4.23 successful dribbles per 90 minutes last term, comfortably leading the likes of Jadon Sancho, Ousmane Dembele, and Kylian Mbappe, and that is something we need to see more of at Elland Road.
Raphinha and the Frenchman on the wings leaving defenders in their wake would make Leeds better, and the fact that he can also act as a playmaker behind a striker brings an added advantage.
He is not likely to come cheap, though, and that could deter Leeds.
Napoli saw their £30million offer for Boga knocked back last summer [Daily Mail], and suitors would have to come close to that bid to have a chance of landing him.
