Leeds United handed massive fitness boost ahead of clash v West Brom

Marcelo Bielsa delivered a very welcome Kalvin Phillips update after the 2-0 Leeds United win against Southampton on Tuesday evening.

Phillips was taken off at half-time and replaced by Pascal Struijk, with the 21-year-old putting in a brilliant display.

Phillips was spotted limping after the game but Bielsa said there was no injury issue.

As quoted by Leeds Live Bielsa said, “No (Phillips is not injured), I chose Pascal to play in that sector because we had to play very in front.

“I thought Pascal could take on board more the game that was being played.”

That’s a big boost for Leeds ahead of the final game of the season against West Brom on Sunday.

Leeds United

Fans are back!

It would have been a tough break for Phillips if he hadn’t been able to play in front of the Leeds fans for the first time this season.

The lucky Leeds fans who won tickets in the ballot will finally get to see the side in the Premier League again, and will get their first glimpse of Raphinha up close and personal.

MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson has told us that the winger looks even better live than he does on the TV, which is an exciting prospect.

And this is no dead rubber. Leeds could finish as high as eighth with a win and that would be an astonishing first season in the Premier League for Marcelo Bieksa.

He’ll want to name as strong a starting XI as possible and that would include Kalvin Phillips.
