Leeds United favourites to sign Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto amid Bournemouth interest
Leeds United are reportedly fronting the queue to sign Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto amid Bournemouth interest.
According to TEAMtalk, the teenage striker wants to move to Elland Road as Jesse Marsch has confirmed his interest in signing him.
Despite the Cherries planning to gazump Leeds in the race, the 18-year-old appears to have his mind set on moving to Yorkshire, having already agreed personal terms with the Whites.
Go for it
It’s rare to see managers being so blase about their potential incomings, but Marsch has gone on record to state that he wants to sign the Italy international.
“We know him. We think very highly of him, he’s a young talented player. We’re very active in pursuing things and we have some strategies. We still have time. There will be movement,” Marsch said, as per the official YouTube channel of Leeds.
With Leeds seeming to be no closer to signing a new striker, it does make sense to make a move for the 18-year-old.
Bournemouth are all but set to get relegated and he would not want to join a sinking ship and risk playing Championship football next season.
With him agreeing personal terms, it is pretty clear that his heart is set on Leeds and all that’s left is for the Whites to put an official bid that meets Zurich’s valuation.
If they are prioritising other options, then they have to make a move quickly for them as there’s not long left before the window closes.
